Initial Plans for Building a Cigar Box Guitar.
Procedures to building your CBG
Materials Needed:
1. Determine if you are going to make a left or right handed guitar:
I'll be using a right handed guitar. A right handed guitar has the neck oriented to the left. The tuning pegs will be on the left and the tail of the guitar will be on the right. A left handed guitar will be the opposite.
2. Determine the scale of the instrument.
3. Mark the neck. Cut the top of your cigar box so that your neck can fit snug placed in the guitar. You will also mark where your head and tail are going to be. Also determine where you want your bridge.
4. Tuning pegs. Find a place to put tuning pegs on your head. Make sure they are not directly above one another. Don't forget to screw them down.
5. Make the tail end holes. This is where you will place your strings.
6. Glue everything down. Glue the neck to your box.
7. Attach the strings to your guitar. If you want frets I would recommend applying them before this step.
